Bulletin Boards That Build Compassion

Help me give my students bulletin board paper and borders to create interactive displays that teach, celebrate, and model compassion every day.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Drummond's classroom raised $170

My Project

In our classroom, bulletin boards are more than decorations—they are powerful tools for connection, reflection, and emotional growth. With your help, we’ll bring in bulletin board paper and borders to create interactive displays that teach, celebrate, and model compassion every day.

These materials will help us design kindness-themed bulletin boards that showcase student stories, acts of empathy, and weekly compassion challenges.

Each board will be a living reflection of what it means to care for others—visually reinforcing the values we are practicing in our classroom community.

Our bulletin boards will include rotating prompts like: “How might someone feel if...?” or “What would you do if a friend looked upset?” Students will contribute their responses using sticky notes, drawings, or short written reflections. By reading their classmates’ thoughts, they will begin to understand different perspectives and experiences, helping them develop empathy and social awareness.

We will create a “Compassion in Action” board that highlights real acts of kindness students have performed or witnessed. They’ll be encouraged to nominate classmates for “kindness shoutouts,” and we’ll include tips and visuals on how to support others—whether it's inviting someone to play, comforting a friend, or helping a peer who’s struggling. These boards will guide students to turn their caring thoughts into compassionate actions.

I will track participation in compassion-focused activities, including how often students engage with the boards, contribute thoughtful responses, or recognize peers for kind actions. We will also hold weekly reflections where students discuss what they learned from the boards. Success will look like a shift in how students speak to and support each other—and their increasing ability to identify and meet the needs of others.
