This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Classroom decor is a part of teaching that does not become less significant as the older the students. In fact, classroom decor is extremely important in high school. It sets the tone for the year. Students enjoy coming into a comfortable, visually engaging classroom. I like my classroom to be thematic and filled with motivational quotes, bulletin boards full of paper, borders, letters, and pictures. I think that my classroom encourages engagement because my students know from the decor that I am committed and dedicated to their success.
The purpose of this project is to collect the supplies and classroom decorations I need to create the most exciting and engaging classroom for the 2024-2025 school year.
I will use the classroom decorations to create bulletin boards that reflect my students' outstanding work, birthdays, class data, etc. Students will be greeted on Day 1 with a classroom that is over-the-top with decorations because I want them to feel like they are being transported to another place--a safe place where they can be creative, lively, and engaged. They will know that this room is a place where they will be accepted and expected to bring positive energy every day.
