Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are comprised of gifted and honors students who excel and work hard despite the stigma of being born in another country. They work hard to make good grades and make their families proud. The majority of my students are former ESOL students who tested out a few years ago. Despite the fact that English is not their primary language at home, they still perform above average.
Our curriculum encourages and requires creativity in almost every project as studies have shown that hands-on learning improves retention.
Being that my students are the children of immigrants and many are from low-income families, they do not have access to even the basic materials necessary for creative assignments. By gaining the supplies I am asking for I will foster my students' creativity and therefore their grades by giving them the supplies they lack.
My Project
The items in my project will be used to create beautiful bulletin board displays for my clubs. Each month we have to refresh our bulletin boards to keep our hallways looking open and inviting.
Having an array of bright, colorful cardstock would enable us to make eye catching bulletin board displays without worrying what colors we can use or if we have enough.
The materials I am asking for will enable my three clubs to shine. They will use the paper and markers to create inspirational messages on their boards for their peers.
