Bulldogs Build STEAM Thinking Skills Through Science-Art Integration!
Help me give my students these sketchbooks, light board, charcoals, colored pencils, Sharpie markers, iPad and Apple Pen in order to assist them in building their drawing and science skills and science literacy through science and art integration!
My students this year are a mix of freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors in my Drawing I and Portfolio of Design, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, and Environmental Science Courses.
My classroom courses, Robotics and 4H club meetings are very active and encourage my students to utilize inquiry, higher level thinking, and active learning strategies in order to complete real world problem based projects and classroom assignments.
This project will provide the materials needed to support our students' learning as they work to develop a deeper understanding of Anatomy and Physiology and Biology content and learn how to integrate Drawing I and Portfolio Design concepts into these studies!
Our students will take the skills that they learn from this project in order to build background knowledge, learn the required skills and content, and build their projects based on real world problems!
My Project
Integrating skills across different curriculum courses is a focus of our program.
In order to better integrate the skills learned in our Drawing I and Portfolio of Design courses with STEAM thinking, we need traditional drawing supplies including drawing and colored pencils, charcoals, sketchbooks, lightboard, iPad and Apple Pen to build and extend the skills of our students as they learn about 2D art or extend their skills from 2D to 3D Art integration!
These materials will not only allow our students to learn traditional drawing methods but will also allow our students to connect art and the skills and concepts being learned in our Life Science courses as they draw sketches and diagrams of concepts in order to create a much deeper understanding of what they are learning!
