Bulldog Training for the Future

Help me give my students a chance to develop their skills so they can become confident, competitive basketball players. Supplies that can help students build their shooting skills will be quite beneficial for them.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Bulldogs are a select group of male students with a high interest in demonstrating and developing their basketball skills. Each year a group of staff members collaborates and takes the opportunity to coach the boys' basketball team. Students from 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade tryout to become a member of the team. After a rigorous week of tryouts and elimination process, the coaches select boys to be on the team. The boys primarily comprise of a group of students who have a high interest in basketball but lack the financial means to formally train in a structured environment and participate in a youth league.

My Project

The Bulldogs want to enrich their future as potential athletes. The team has used old, worn basketballs for practice sessions over the years. This did not deter them. They would still give their best effort and the school body would still support them. The Bulldogs would seriously benefit from new basketballs. Access to training materials to strengthen shooting skills will put the Bulldog players on equal playing grounds when they play against other schools from areas that have access to more updated supplies. Updated supplies will also prepare the Bulldogs for high school. It is our hope to build the confidence of the players and enrich their futures.
