My students need access to more technology in the classroom. The Chromebooks will provide opportunities to for my students to explore, create, and learn.

My Students

My class is a 1st Grade Classroom of 20 students. Our class mascot is the bulldog, and I like to think of my class as a big family. As such, I want what is best for each of my students. I have a wonderful group of students from all different backgrounds each with their own strengths and challenges.

I have been a teacher for 22 years and have readily embraced new technologies in my classroom.I strive to update my teaching methods as the times change to provide the kids with the most engaging and fun learning environment possible.

We are not a Title 1 school, but a school with a middle-class student body. As a result, we are not eligible to receive any additional funding for technology or enrichment through the district.

My Project

I will use these Chromebooks to enhance the children’s learning by keeping them more engaged through hands-on, student-centered learning. The Chromebooks will broaden the variety of learning options and target level reading material for every student. They will inspire the children to read more. The Chromebooks will also develop vocabulary in English Language Learners by providing more opportunities to associate a picture with the word. Additionally, they will serve as a great enrichment tool for those doing above grade-level work. The Chromebooks will help those students be challenged in new ways to continue to broaden their minds and increase their learning experiences. All students will be able to use the Chromebooks to work collaboratively on special projects that encourage their interests. You may say, “My kid gets lots of screen time at home.” This time will not be passive screen time, but active learning that will reinforce and expand on the concepts I am teaching.
