Every day, a board member comes and teaches with me. We teach 40 students the openings, strategies in playing chess, and all of the checkmates. As a part of teaching this many students, we are always in need of addition chess pieces, chess mats, and most importantly, chess clocks. Our school then takes what we learn from class and go compete in the Sacramento Valley Scholastic Chess League tournaments. Students from all over Butte County, kindergarteners to seniors, come to compete. Average attendance at these tournaments is roughly 175 students. Consequently, we need as many clocks as we can get! Thank you for supporting students in developing a life long love for the game of chess!
Our middle school students love to play chess! This game of strategy has captured the minds of our students and is growing in popularity every year. We currently have a chess class where 40 students are taught about the game, strategy, and most importantly, good sportsmanship.
Our chess class has grown so much, our students are able to participate in tournaments!
I have seen many a student, who comes to class but have lost their passion for learning. Chess has sparked that desire again and many of my students say that chess class is the only thing that gets them to school. Please help me continue igniting that passion with these chess clocks and timers. These will be used every day in class and fuel our competitive spirit.
