My Students

In my classroom, we have fun. I try to provide students with an environment conducive to a love of learning, and some of our resources are not relevant to them. Having newer books on our shelves would encourage more students to read and love to do so.

My students are curious, adventurous, caring, hormone-crazed middle schoolers.

While I read with them, it is a struggle to get some of them to read on their own. I feel that having access to books that will attract their interest can initiate a spark within them, and hopefully carry over to a love of literature that they can fulfill throughout their lives.

My Project

My students are required to read 30 minutes nightly and to document 1000 pages worth of reading per each nine weeks. I have some students who fight this requirement with all that they have. When asked why, they respond that they don't like to read and that I don't have anything good on my shelves. I would like to change that.

Donations to this project will provide newer texts to place on my classroom library shelves.

This will provide students access to books that may interest and engage them. Some of the requested items are book series -- I hope that they will hook students and encourage them to read multiple books in a row!
