This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kindergarten through 3rd-grade scientists attend a high-poverty school in Wisconsin. I am extremely fortunate to be their elementary science teacher, and I am the only science teacher in our district for this age group. Our school has a new lab, and the students go two times a week to participate in hands-on activities that explore life, earth, and physical sciences. They are also involved in STEM activities that explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. They are excited and eager to learn, and one day they may become scientists themselves.
My Project
These construction materials will help my budding construction workers, architects and engineers create new buildings. The Design & Build Engineering Centers include bridge building, vehicle building & house building. All of these sets will be great for the first grade and kindergartener classes because they contain colorful photos for small engineers to use as inspiration for their own creations.
We will use these new materials as a part of our construction unit.
The Blocks & Blueprints Learning Center helps students learn about spatial relations & recreating designs. The I Can Build It! Architecture Set uses STEM skills to help students create 3-D houses. The I Can Build It! Construction Planks can be used alone or with real-world designs. Both sets are wonderful for second and third grade because they come with easy-to-follow learning cards.
