Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This project will allow opportunity for students to get up, collaborate, think critically, and problem-solve. These important life-skills are lacking in my students because they're scared of failing. I plan to use the tools set forth by Peter Liljedahl's Building Thinking Classrooms. His research-based strategies are what my students need to gain confidence and take risks with their thinking.

My students sometimes struggle to work in groups and this high-engagement strategy will help my students collaborate and learn from each other using vertical non-permanent writing surfaces.

Allowing students to get up and talk to their group will help them with their social skills and risk-taking.
