it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
“Building Thinking Classrooms” (BTC) is an evolving implementation of mathematics curriculum around the world. For my New York City students, we use methods from BTC to help build an understanding of essential algebraic skills and concepts needed to master state standards. One key method we implement from BTC in our Illustrative Mathematics classroom is the use of vertical nonpermanent surfaces. This requires students to be standing up at whiteboards to complete various activities in groups. To be successful in completing assigned tasks at the boards, students continuously need dry-erase markers. The dual tip expo markers will be perfect for the BTC method in that each group is only allowed one marker, but in this case, they will have two colors at the same time for annotating problems and color coding their work. The wipes will be helpful in ensuring our surfaces stay clean, as they will be used every day by all my classes. The magnets will also aid in displaying the assigned activities on the whiteboards for students to reference as they work through the problem. Lastly, the label maker will be perfect for labeling group materials, calculators, laptops, and other required materials.
