Building Thinking Classrooms Math Elementary

Help me give my students Vertical Writing Surfaces so we have a Building Thinking Classroom environment for students to practice math skills in!

My Project

These huge boards will be used every day in the room during math instruction for elementary learners. My goal is to start the year practicing math this way so students are comfortable working together, solving problems, and confident in their own personal math skills. They will learn how to have math discussions, independently, so they can push each other- as well as share strategies. This is active engagement and promotes mathematical discourse in a setting where students are practicing and building upon each day. These boards students will work at each day, working through selected problems and tasks to build numeracy and arithmetic skills. We will organize our materials with the marker bins. The cards are for selecting groups. I asked for a large number of them because they also make a great easy math games for after the lessons. These materials will help lots of kids, love math!
