My Project

I have been excited to try out strategies introduced in the book Building a Thinking Classroom this year, however I struggle finding enough vertical surfaces for my students. These additional materials will help me provide a classroom environment for visual learning. I have started using these strategies during our math time, but I have also been researching ways to expand this collaborative learning throughout the day

Providing our students with thinking tasks allows them to gain a deeper level of learning.

Part of learning is being able to share their thoughts. Vertical learning brings this all together in an environment where students collaborate in groups of 2 or 3 to make their thinking visual for others to see and share.

Adding more vertical whiteboard surfaces to our learning space will allow us to break up into smaller groups increasing active engagement. There are so many great skills being developed in a Thinking Classroom including collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and relationship building as students problem solve with their peers.

Mrs. Groth will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 21.
