Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Third grade is an exciting year! It is a huge transition year between primary and upper grades. Students start to become more independent learners while the rigor level across the curriculum greatly increases. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and have varying needs. Some of my students have learning disabilities, others have emotional needs, some are gifted learners while others are English language learners. In the end, we all come together to create our little classroom family.

Our classroom is a safe, positive, and collaborative learning environment.

One that also allows for students to think critically, experiment and not be afraid to make mistakes. This year my students will be engaged in rigorous tasks that require them to be at the center of their learning.

My Project

More now than ever before, it is important to focus on the emotional/well being of students. It is important to me that all my students feel welcomed and that they treat each other with kindness and respect. In addition, students should feel like anything is possible.

The books in this project will help me teach my students about kindness, inclusion and the power of believing in oneself.

Some of the books included teach about diversity and the importance of respecting each other's difference and celebrating what makes us unique. Other books included have a central female character that dream to be engineers and scientists. Included in this project are also child favorites that students would love to have in our classroom library.

In addition, there is a bookshelf included in this project to help me organize my expanding classroom library.
