My Project

I teach a World Cultures class to grades K-4. I have each class twice a week. My students would use Keva planks all five years in various ways. My younger learners would work together in small groups to create models of communities and explain why their designed community is urban or rural. This allows for more creativity and a broad range of motor skills compared to simply coloring. Students would also be able to recreate settings for folktales from around the world, making the storytelling unit a concrete experience.

Keva planks would span all ages within our school.

Since I see students all five years at my elementary school, this donation would be used often and in new ways as students grow. The 3rd and 4th graders would use the planks to recreate architecture from around the world. They would need to observe closely and collaborate to create more realistic models. With our own set of planks, the models could remain in process and on display for an entire unit of study. Students of many abilities would be able to create outlines of flags as we study new countries.

Students studying different units can use this versatile supply throughout their time in elementary school. Thank-you for considering this project to build the future!
