My Students

Our classroom is "home" to 15 energetic kindergartners! When entering our room you consistently find students engaged in enriching activities. The classroom library is filled with hundreds of books and a couple of cozy couches. Students can be seen building with blocks, exploring fossils in the sensory table or working on a note or card at the writing center. Kindergartners in my classroom are always working to be a better member of our classroom and school community. Through our classroom centers, students focus on working as a group, communicating with their peers, and problem solving.

My Project

My current classroom has an old set of wooden blocks. The blocks are all showing their age, but the students are still drawn to them. I would like to replace our blocks with new, safer wood blocks and encourage students' building by adding people and some pre-made structures.

Students can often be overheard describing their vision for a tower or a structure to peers.

They collaborate to create some amazing things and often utilize several different types of materials within our building center. Most recently students have been competing to build the tallest structures, then negotiating who gets to knock it down!
