Building Teamwork Through Books

My students need sport books to teach students about all different kinds of sports and also to help with team work.

My Students

Each year, I am blessed with an amazing group of children, who I learn from daily. They come in each morning with so much to share with the class and me. They are full of life and want to share that with everyone around them. At the beginning of the school year, my students enter second grade as shy first graders. However, when they leave for third grade they are strong, confident, and determined. Being part of this process is what makes teaching so beautiful.

My Project

I noticed that many of my students aren't familiar with sports other than the one they play. I also realized that many of my female students see sports books only for boys. I thought a great way to help open their minds to the idea of girls playing sports, their knowledge about the different kinds of sports out there, and teamwork would be through books. I think reading about different kinds of sports and seeing how so many require people to work together will help them understand that teamwork is something that is essential to life, work and playing sports.
