My Students

Do you remember your middle school experience? That weird awkward time where you felt a little out of place? I try to encourage each and every day how cool and exciting it is to be different but many of the kids are anxious and timid. These kids are just trying to find their place in middle school and figure out their personality. It is difficult meeting the needs of all students over the past few years due to a restricted and decreasing budget. Our team consists of two classrooms with 30 students in each, so this year I have nearly 60 students who thrive each and every day because of love and encouragement. We, as teachers, have to find new creative ways to teach and engage our young learners. One area of focus I have been trying to incorporate in all subject areas are STEM-related activities. I believe math and science are the focus through STEM-related lessons. Engaging our students in fun, exciting lessons is my main focus.

My Project

STEM fields such as math and science allow students to grow a genuine interest in how the world works. Students easily become so caught up in the creativity and excitement, they don't even realize how much they are learning. Robotics and education help show students that, although challenging, math and engineering skills are not scary. By giving students a fun, creative way to express common math and science principles, these classroom subjects become much more welcoming. It's much easier to appreciate science when it's helping to power your robot! Help my students become engaging future citizens by providing these early experiences during our middle school years. We will be learning how to build and code SolarBots, DIY Solar Cars, Discovery Solar Robots, and a climbing vehicle. These tools will be used during our robotics unit with coding. A few other resources I wanted for our classroom were the Dot Game and Qbitz. These resources will be used for students struggling with special reasoning skills. I would like to have these two games in the classroom for my early finishers. When students need to continue working out their brain muscles without needing me so I can be working with other groups. Thanks for your considerations.
