This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come to school every day full of life and they are excited to learn. ! We serve a highly diverse student population at our elementary school. Ninety percent of students receive free and reduced meals and 90% are English Speakers of Other languages. Despite any obstacles they may have at home, they love coming to school and they love learning! I believe every child has the right to read. Literacy is the language of opportunity. My heart is to equip my students with the tools they will need to be successful!!

My Project

I am a reading teacher and want so badly to put books in the hands of every student that comes through my doors. Our school is located in the highest poverty area. It is a great place to learn, but our resources are limited.

Reading is POWER!

Once you learn to read you will be free forever! Every child deserves to have the doors of possibility open to them. Please help us build leaders from within our community to reach around the world.

We need books to build our library with guided reading book sets. Books that are colorful, richly illustrated and engaging at a variety of levels.

With these new books, we will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow students to read independently. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
