Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During the Winter months, students usually have indoor recess at my school. I would like to bring puzzles, games and Legos into my classroom to allow my students' creative ideas to flourish while they create structures using Lego bricks. I believe that through their use, students will actively experiment and find new ways to solve puzzles that are only limited by their own creativity. Additionally, Legos are an excellent team building activity in which kids learn valuable teamwork and social skills.

Building projects with Legos in a group environment is an excellent way for children to learn important communication and language skills.

In particular, my students are English Language Learners and the need to communicate instructions and understand the values of what is being requested when collaborating and playing in groups, thus, improving their language skills along the way.

I am hoping that this project gets the donation it needs to allow my 1st graders to continue to grow socially and academically. Thank you for selecting my project to read, and possibly funding.
