Art supplies like paint, Mod Podge, brushes, and other materials can significantly enhance students' learning by providing a hands-on, creative outlet that encourages engagement and deepens understanding. We will be starting projects that will help to build students connection to place, as well as to the culture. The projects include building a 3-D model of Hawaii Island and students will be guided step by step through the building process. We will also be exploring the art of printing designs using foam boards and popsicle sticks to create designs and patterns similar to Hawaiian print making done in the past.
Projects such as these help to foster and encourage creativity, problem-solving skills, critical thinking towards planning, engagement amongst students, and building confidence in students.
By providing students with the tools to explore and create, art supplies can help foster a deeper understanding of academic concepts, as well as develop essential skills such as creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
