My Project
My students are passionate, talented, funny, and persevering. They have to be when so many come from broken homes, foster care, group homes, and family shelters for the homeless or abused. Despite these circumstances, my kids are eager to come to school and find a path out of their situations with the power of education. The materials I am requesting in this project will help my students build strong phonemic awareness and phonics skills through word mapping and word building games and activities.
Having access to magnetic letters and other materials that can make reading fun and hands-on will help keep students engaged in the learning of these important foundational skills.
Combining these materials with our brain-based instruction will help my students become fluent readers.
