My Project
This year, there was a significant shift in our curricular materials to better support our students’ literacy development. We transitioned from Units of Study to CKLA Skills for our phonics instruction, a move that more closely aligns with our literacy goals and provides a structured, systematic approach to foundational reading skills. My students are eager to learn and they have a diverse range of strengths and needs. They are curious, hardworking, and determined to grow as readers. By providing them with accessible and engaging phonics materials, I can help build their confidence and set them on a path to becoming lifelong readers.
This project will ensure that students have access to decodable texts and supplemental resources from Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) that are specifically aligned with CKLA Skills.
These materials will make a meaningful difference in their learning by reinforcing the phonics patterns and high-frequency words introduced in each lesson. By having a variety of engaging resources for small-group instruction, independent practice, and family home connections, students will have multiple opportunities to build fluency, confidence, and a strong foundation in reading.
