Building Strong Readers: Leveled & Literature Books for Lifelong Learning
Help me give my students 60 Easy Phonics Leveled A B C D Guided Readers books, My First I Can Read Series-10 Books Collection Set, literature books I can read to the whole class, and plastic privacy folders.

My Project
My students are eager to learn and grow as readers in my first-grade classroom. They are a diverse group with a wide range of reading abilities, from emerging readers to those ready for advanced texts. Their determination makes them special—they will work hard if I meet them at their current academic level. To foster their love of reading and ensure growth, I am requesting various leveled reading books, including phonics readers, and sight word books.
Having multiple books per level will prevent students from memorizing texts and allow them to develop strong decoding and comprehension skills while keeping their interest.
These books will be used daily for small group instruction and independent reading and will be available in the classroom library. With class sizes expected to increase next year due to redistricting, this collection will continue to benefit future students.
Additionally, I am requesting plastic privacy folders to help students focus during assessments and independent work. These sturdy, easy-to-clean dividers will support students who need fewer distractions to do their best work.
Finally, I am requesting a collection of literature books to supplement our district’s curriculum. While I currently rely on online read-aloud, having physical copies will allow me to engage students by stopping at key moments for discussion, vocabulary development, and comprehension checks. These books will also be added to our classroom library so students can explore them independently, which they enjoy. Students write about the story and make a craft that goes along with the book.
With these resources, I can give my students the individualized support they need to become confident, successful readers. Thank you for considering my project and supporting literacy and learning in first grade!
