it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students are excited to be participating in the KLA k-8 Performing Arts Dance Program! Children from Encanto, a neighborhood in South East San Diego, are in the process of learning how to be dancers! Students learn a different dance discipline every day of the week such as Ballet, Jazz Dance, Hip Hop, and Tap Dance. These students deserve a strong dance foundation so that they can become successful performing artists in the future if they choose. They can audition for performing arts high schools or dance companies in their community. KLA dancers' enthusiasm and hard work make them extremely deserving of materials such as ballet barres and stretch mats in their classroom.
My Project
A Barre allows students to become aware of body lines and proper posture during their warm-up. Ballet schools require barre ballet warm up at the beginning of class. It is also easier for the teacher to assess students as she is walking around. Students learn the traditional way to warm up in ballet class.
Ballet is the foundation for several dance disciplines and the use of a barre in the classroom will help with the success of a well rounded dancer.
Funding this project will not only boost confidence due to alignment from head to toe during warm up, but will help increase success in the classroom.
