Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I coach football at a nearby high school, where we work with about 80 football players. Many come from backgrounds with limited resources, and opportunities. Through sport, we have created an outlet for many athletes to seek success.
These young athletes have great work ethic and drive!
They are goal driven, and full of enthusiasm, especially when it comes to competing! Through the implementation of strength and conditioning, we hope to help our athletes to improve their on-field performance, and reduce the risk of injury. Not only are we building these young athletes for on-field/court competitions, but we are also molding positive leaders for their families/communities and future career endeavors. We may not be able to control their home lives, however, we do have the ability to guide them throughout their high school athletic experience. By doing this in a creative and positive way, we are hopeful to inspire lifelong athletes who excel physically, mentally, and emotionally.
My Project
Our weight room is a huge part of our success as we compete. Our athletes are working constantly on improving speed, strength, stability, and mobility. With these items, we plan to utilize the bands and dip belts, and athletic tape to improve muscular strength and stability that will allow us to modify and enhance certain movements and exercises that will ultimately help us grow our core exercises, and stay safe as we perform our lifts.

Our football team will make great gains in core stability, and overall gains in the core lifts. These materials allow us to create variety in resistance throughout our movements that will also keep our athletes motivated, while preparing for competition.
