This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have a wonderful group of eighth graders who are enthusiastic about learning Spanish and its culture. This year, they will be taking Spanish 1, and I’m excited to continue working with them after having taught them Introduction to World Languages in seventh grade. These students are special because they are smart, high academic achievers who truly value and respect other cultures. It’s admirable that they are already thinking about their future, as this will be one of their first high school credits. I know that a full school-year subscription to Scholastic’s ¿Qué tal? magazine will be perfect for them. The engaging, up-to-date articles are written at their level, spark curiosity, and provide real-world context, all of which will help them confidently transition into Spanish 2 in high school next year.
