My Students

The students in my special education setting range from grades Pre-Kindergarten skills up to third grade. We are a rather eclectic group with varying disabilities. We all struggle with learning in the traditional methods. We need more time, hands-on activities and the ability to move around in our setting.

I work with the same kids across many years, so we all have the opportunity to get to know each other's little quirks and how we work best!

With that knowledge comes the eagerness to meet them where they are and grow them!

My Project

My kiddos are just amazing. Somedays I almost feel guilty for having such wonderful students. They all learn in their own special way. The one method that works with everyone is hands on activities. If they can manipulate and work with the materials then they tend to retain the information quicker!

Their brains work better when they are immersed in the activity.

The Learning Locks allow them to have immediate feedback on the skill. They can self-check if the key will open the lock to match the letter to the sound. The Power Pens also allow them to get immediate feedback.
