My Students

My 6th, 7th, and 8th are full of energy and have a need for engaging instruction that allows for real life application. Representatives of the population of Oakland and having specific needs when it comes to learning, puts them at an even higher disadvantage than some of their peers.

They are strong self advocates, at times verbalizing they don't understand; requesting a topic to be explained differently.

Their brilliance shines through as they consistently display resilience and courage. Their desire to learn to learn is one that deserves equal access to learning.

My Project

Binders requested will be used to compose tool kits that will be utilized by students through the school year and beyond.

Differentiated learners need tangible items such as counters, play money, and games like PAYDAY that bring the abstractness of math to life.

Such material will enhance the learning experience of these students exponentially.

The Flip Chart and Markers will be used for students to bring BIG IDEAS to life by creating their own visual aids to be used and posted in the classroom. These projects will be created in group settings and will support collaborative learning.

Having literature that offers suggestions on age appropriate activities can help make learning fun as well as accessible by offering varied and engaging curriculum.
