Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our special education classroom, students face unique challenges in developing social skills and managing sensory needs. Many of our students benefit greatly from hands-on, engaging activities that encourage communication, cooperation, and calming sensory experiences. I am requesting LEGO sets to create engaging, hands-on activities in my special education classroom.

These will support my students’ social skills development, provide sensory breaks, and allow us to explore important themes in racial justice and representation through creative storytelling and building.

LEGOs offer a unique way for students with diverse learning needs to engage socially, communicate ideas, and practice collaboration in a fun, hands-on environment.

Additionally, using LEGOs, we will build scenes and stories that highlight diverse cultures, heroes, and historical moments to foster conversations about racial justice, equity, and representation. This approach will help students develop empathy and understanding in a concrete, accessible way.

With your help, we can create a positive, interactive space where students build friendships, confidence, and important life skills — one LEGO brick at a time.
