This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten are the grade levels that begin a child's elementary school journey. Foundations of all subject areas are formed in these early grades and perhaps the most important of all foundations that are formed in this time period are the Social and Emotional foundations.

Dramatic play is the kind of play where kids take on roles and act them out as a way of exploring themselves and their surroundings, and by pretending to be someone—or something—else, children can learn new ways to express themselves, share thoughts and ideas, and even get in touch with their feelings.

The doll house and furniture in this project will provide the Transitional Kindergarten students in this classroom with an opportunity to develop higher rates of social and emotional processing and build social skills like empathy, conflict resolution, self-empowerment, and self-regulation. Additionally, dramatic play with a doll house can help students engage in math and literacy and language development through play.

Whether alone, or with friends, dramatic play is instrumental for a child's development, and your donation to this project provides students with opportunities for emotional expression, cognitive skill development, fine motor skills and social interactions through dramatic play.
