This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
In fifth grade, the material gets harder, students are growing and changing developmentally, and there are more state tests. Science is important in so many ways and can be found in numerous career fields. Yet, schools and teachers put more of an emphasis on English Language Arts and math until students reach the fifth grade.
My project is geared towards making learning more engaging and interactive for my students.
I want them to understand the importance of science, but to also bring the fun back into learning. Older students seem to struggle more with finding joy in learning and I want to turn that around for my fifth graders. We would love to use hands-on materials and kits to learn our science skills and standards to create a solid foundation in elementary science.
