I have been given the wonderful opportunity to work with two classes of fourth grade students. My students are unique, loving, witty, and passionate. They have a variety of learning needs that require books from different reading levels.
I am lucky enough to teach two classes of students who love to learn.
Each child comes from a different background, but most come from a low-social economical environment. Funding this project will help provide more engaging reading opportunities for my students. My students have a variety of likes and interests, and this project will help them to explore those interests with new materials.
My Project
As a new teacher, I want to build a classroom library that includes books to engage every student. I work with two classes where students are on a variety of reading levels, so having a lot of options is extremely important.
Our current classroom library is small and a larger variety of books will help to encourage even the most reluctant readers to pick one up.
I believe that every student should have access to books they want to read, not just books they have to read for an assignment. This will encourage a love of reading for enjoyment and allow students to explore their interests.
