Building Positive Social Relationships Through The Magic Of Play!

Help me give my students toys, such as a wooden train set and a pirate ship, so they can learn to develop social skills and build their imagination and creativity.

My Project

Play is important for child development. It contributes to cognitive, social, and emotional well-being in young children. My young Kindergarten students grew up during the COVID years with limited exposure to children of similar age and life experiences outside the home. Our choice time in Kindergarten offers an ideal opportunity for my students to engage with their peers and practice their social skills in a safe environment. New toys are needed to help my students to use their creativity while developing their imagination and strengthening relationships with their peers.

Undirected play will allow my students to learn how to work in small groups, to share, to negotiate, and resolve conflicts with their peers.

My students will navigate through the various toys and building sets located throughout the classroom to discover and explore new interests, practice verbal language skills, and use decision making skills.

My students will have so much fun playing with the new toys, such as the pirate ship or the treehouse building set, and not even realize they are learning. Their positive social experiences are very important to their development.
