My Students

My students come from many unique backgrounds and speak a variety of languages at home. My students are beginning to develop a love of reading and are excited to visit the library each week to check out books. Most of our students only have access to books and library resources while at school, so it is imperative to provide access to resources that the students are interested in and to make the space as welcoming and inviting as possible.

My vision is to make the library a positive place where students feel comfortable, valued, and enjoy visiting to read books.

An updated library collection will encourage more students to visit throughout the week to exchange books, make connections, and develop a deeper love of reading.

My Project

This project will reach many students at a local Title I elementary school in Anchorage, AK. Our students are excited to visit the library to check out books and would be even more excited to see new books added to the collection!

This project will allow me to add new and popular books to the collection that our students are longing to read.

The resources include Social and Emotional Learning books, which can easily be used by teachers to support the curriculum. The project also includes popular book series that students have requested.
