This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning."
-- Mr. Rogers
My classroom has students from a variety of backgrounds (ethnic, social, religious, etc.).
They are energetic, enthusiastic, and curious children. My school is 93% free and reduced price lunch eligible and supplies are limited. However, children love to play and love to interact with dramatic play materials. It gives them the chance to explore the world around them!
My Project
All of these materials will be used in the dramatic play center of my classroom. I will be planning different themes for the center and will be cycling materials through it throughout the year. The students will be able to use these materials to act out different parts of their worlds. I also plan on using this center as an extension or supplement to what we are learning about in science or social studies.
These materials will allow me to create better dramatic play centers for my students.
The children in my class will be able to interact and use these materials throughout their day at school. They will have the opportunity to interact with and play with other classmates to strengthen communication and social skills, as well as deepening their science and social studies knowledge.
