Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Kindergarten is the first year of traditional schooling. The goal in my kindergarten classroom is for students to learn social skills and fundamental basics of knowledge that will guide them through the next 12 or more years of school. Over half of my wonderful kindergarten students are learning English. Their diverse backgrounds make our classroom a wonderful place to be!
My rambunctious kindergartners are experiencing all the new thrills of school and are excited to learn new things each day.
My students come together each day with the same goal: to learn new things and create new friendships. They are excited about learning letters, numbers, and the foundations of reading and math!
My Project
In Kindergarten, it is a huge challenge to keep children engaged and interested in their learning. I am always searching for ways for my students to apply learning using hands on materials they enjoy and are interested in. Each morning my students utilize individual morning tubs. The goal of these tubs is to enhance their fine motor skills. My students will use the LEGOs and base plates to recreate pictures with the LEGOs. This will require them to also utilize counting and patterning skills as well as enhancing their fine motor skills. They can also use the LEGOs, base plates, and people to create patterns and add and subtract during math centers. What child does not love LEGOs? Please help bring this educational, hands on project to life in my Kindergarten classroom.
