My Students

I have kind, compassionate, diligent students who love to learn. Each and every student is unique with his/her own quirks and personalities. Most of my students come from similar backgrounds and have grown up in the heart of Chinatown.

They, together, make a great class where they encourage, inspire, and challenge each other to become a better learner.

We work as a community to not only prepare ourselves for middle school but to become an active and knowledgeable citizen in the future.

By discussing growth mindset from the beginning of the class, they were eager to tackle new obstacles to stretch their minds/brains.

My Project

In this Chinatown community, families do not have many opportunities to venture outside of the boundaries of Chinatown. With many parents and guardians who do not speak English, students are in desperate need of a window to the outside world. By providing students Time for Kids Magazine to read, they will be able to get a glimpse of the world at their fingertips. By ordering grade bands of 3-4, I will be able to support low readers and English Language Learners with texts that they can access and understand as well as challenge my high readers to continue reading texts that are at a higher level.
