My Students

My classroom holds a buzz of activity and is focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere.

Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.

Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels. As a teacher, it is my job to encourage the students to explore paths that they show a marked interest in. I also see it as my job to show my students that learning can be magical.

My Project

This Daily Math Fluency kit will help my students build their understanding of how numbers work together. Number sense is the building block of all other concepts in math. I want to help my students increase their number sense through having daily math talks. This will increase their ability to use mathematical relationships to reason with the numbers.

In a world where many people appear to struggle with math we as teachers need to help build confidence by putting an emphasis on building number sense.

As I think about why my students struggle with decimals and fractions in 5th grade it can be traced back to their lack of understanding number sense. This kit will definitely help my students and their understandings.
