My Project
As I prepare for the upcoming school year, I am eager to enhance my math instruction by incorporating purposeful teaching materials to promote the development of number sense among my young mathematicians. These materials will serve as crucial visuals, enabling me to model specific strategies and facilitate a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts in first grade.
Through the use of these materials, I plan to demonstrate problem-solving strategies, show relationships between numbers, engage students in math games and small group instruction, and encourage them to share their own problem-solving approaches using manipulatives.
As first graders greatly benefit from visual and tactile aids to grasp the concept of numbers, manipulatives will play a vital role in their learning journey, bridging the gap between concrete experiences and reasoning.
By offering a diverse range of materials and resources, I aim to create an inclusive and dynamic learning environment where each student can thrive and build a strong foundation in mathematics.
