My Project
I would like to provide my students with some extrinsic rewards to increase intrinsic motivation. While many teachers have a prize bin full of small gifts for students, I want to give my students the opportunity to make handicrafts, play games and the chance to win prizes from a classroom claw machine to increase motivation with my middle schoolers.
My 6th graders were a wonderful group of students and I am so grateful I get to be their teacher again now in 7th grade!
Last year I had fantastic success with gamifying lessons to increase engagement and this year I would like to increase intrinsic motivation by first giving some external motivators like creating handicrafts, playing games and earning small fidget prizes from their very own classroom claw machine!
After recovering from being away from school during Covid 19 and now after the devastating fires that destroyed our town- students need support more than ever. Prizes give students bright spots in dark days and can earned for showing growth, being a team player, birthday celebrations and so much more. My students get so excited when they set and reach a goal and earn a reward. Small treasures, fidgets, snacks and new school supplies give students even more determination to start working towards their next goal.
