Help me give my students an iPad to assist them in accessing curriculum by allowing them to see what they are challenged to read and what they can't process through auditory instruction.

My Students
I am fortunate to work in a small, urban school in Lowell, Massachusetts that is nestled in a neighborhood and has a family-like atmosphere. Students love the school environment and at WES, the motto is...be the best you can be! Every day our community strives to be and do their best.
The Lowell Public Schools serves a population of students from low-income households, with our district eligible to give 100% of students free breakfast and lunch.
Many students are English language learners and themselves first or second generation newcomers. These can present as great challenges, then add to that a learning disability and a student can become defeated very quickly.
My classes are designed for special groups of learners. These students require accommodations when learning. Often they require a specialized curriculum and multi-sensory instructional method to help them be their best.
My Project
Many of my students work very hard to understand what is introduced and taught in the general education setting. While I do tremendous work to break down their roadblocks to understanding words in print, I would love to be able to remove yet another roadblock for them.
Often, when I carry over math and science curriculum to my small group work with students, they are missing academic vocabulary or the background knowledge to make sense of that is being taught.
This iPad will allow students to use apps that assist with vocabulary acquisition or help with test prep in science. They will be able to research and obtain background knowledge necessary to understand concepts. It will allow students the ability to see in reality what they are hearing about in theory. The iPad will be an invaluable tool in allowing students to watch a step by step video to solve math equations, use apps to grow fact fluency, and allow some children to manipulate numbers through a more motor-driven approach.
