Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These items will help enhance my students learning experiences in my small group instruction. All of my students are struggling readers that need intensive reading and writing interventions. Through my research on the Science of Reading I have incorporated multi-sensory learning activities in my groups. By using sand paper letters, sand, and other items, my students have been able to begin to decode and encode. Students use decodable books as well as morphology to build their phonics and reading comprehension. My students enjoy coming to my classroom because they know it is a safe space where they can be free of shame when making mistakes and working at their level. With these items my students will be able to reach their learning goals and receive incentives for following expectations while in my classroom.
