My students need hands on manipulatives that will aid in literacy development. My students need to create words, read books with fluency, and make the connection between sounds and letters.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My amazing 1st grade students are super eager to learn. They are from a low income area. The majority of my students have free or reduced lunch--meaning their parents' salaries or yearly income does not meet or exceed a certain amount.
My students love new and innovative ways to learn.
They get super excited about games and technology. They love hands on materials that get them involved in the learning process. They are like little sponges that soak up information!
My Project
My students will benefit from these resources greatly. The whisper phones will allow my students to read books to their classmates and me in a new and exciting way. Students will be able to practice reading words in isolation with the rhyming and first word dominos. The lowercase stamps and stamp pads will be resources that will allow me to create fun and meaningful centers, that will enrich the learning environment.
My students will be able to independently work on skills that will strengthen phonemic awareness.
My students are struggling will basic reading foundations. The goal is to help them increase sight word recognition as well as sound out new words. The more practice they have with sounds and words, the better their reading skills will become.
