My Project
My students are struggling readers who are eager to dive into chapter books but have limited decoding skills, making the transition from early readers to longer texts challenging. While they may grasp complex storylines and characters, decoding difficulties can create frustration and hinder their progress. Traditional chapter books often contain advanced vocabulary and lengthy passages that can be overwhelming, highlighting the need for books that balance age-appropriate content with accessible language.
To bridge this gap, I aim to provide a diverse collection of decodable chapter books designed for emerging readers in grades K-2.
These books feature controlled vocabulary, simple sentence structures, and engaging themes to keep my young readers motivated. These books will make a difference in the reading intervention that students receive by motivating all students and addressing their learning needs by becoming more engaged as they learn to read. By offering accessible yet meaningful reading experiences, this initiative will support fluency, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love of reading while helping students meet their reading goals.
