Building Lifelong Readers

Help me give my students a lifelong love of reading. We will use these classic Fairy tale and Fable books in a literature unit designed to build a lifelong love of reading.

My Students

My students are bright, creative and love to collaborate. They are enthusiastic learners and always want to explore new ideas in interesting and engaging ways. They are ready to work hard to achieve their goals this year. They seek out spaces where they can gather and collaborate. They bravely share their ideas even when they are unsure of the answers.

We are working to build a classroom community where students work together and learn from each other.

When they share success they are more likely to share when things get hard. When they feel supported by each other they are more likely to take risks. Creating spaces for my students to learn and collaborate is my top priority.

My Project

These books will support a rich literature unit designed around reading Fairy Tales and Fables. Students will explore many different styles from classic Fairy Tales to Fairy Tales with a twist.The books will be used as students explore their own interests and build a lifelong love of reading while building reading fluency.

These books will inspire students not only to read but they will use these classic stories to inspire original writing.

Students will create a final project where they retell a classic Fairy Tale with a twist in their own words using technology to bring their story to life through stop motion animation or an original Story Jumper book they create.
