My Students
At our school we work to cultivate the future leaders of the world for the 21st century and beyond. In collaboration with all members of our diverse community, we address the needs of the whole child, through rigorous academics and project-based learning.
Students are taught to think critically, communicate effectively, and solve real-world problems.
We believe that students thrive in a nurturing environment of trust, safety, and security to grow both emotionally and academically.
Our school is a school of excellence where children can achieve their full leadership potential in academics, creativity and moral development, thus becoming lifelong learners prepared for the 21st century and beyond.
My Project
The materials requested for this project will help develop a LEGO bricks center in our PreK classroom. With a dedicated LEGO bricks space, students will be able to develop engineering, artistic, and problem-solving skills. This is accomplished in the form of STEAM challenges, LEGO bricks tutorials, and creative play! For example, students prompted to build a specific shape with LEGO bricks will need to visualize how to build the shape using a process known as decomposition. This means that students will examine the whole shape and mentally break it down into smaller components so that the project can be more easily created. This is a critical and computational thinking skill that dovetails with other academic areas. Students also learn how to collaborate and connect with others to come up with solutions by interacting with LEGO bricks in this manner. This supports classroom interactions with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
This space will be a wonderful outlet for our students!
