My Project

My students are bright, creative problem-solvers who love challenges. They are members of our school’s BETA club and science classes, where they build projects, conduct experiments, and prepare for competitions. Many come from low-income households, and our school provides free lunch for all students. Despite financial hardships, they are eager to create, innovate, and learn real-world skills.

We need supplies that support both BETA competition projects and financial literacy lessons.

With cardstock , foam board, tri-fold boards, paint, paint brushes, and snacks, students will create competition-ready displays while also learning to budget, track expenses, and compare costs.

For example, while working on a project, students will calculate the cost of each material, compare the value of bulk vs. single purchases, and learn how to stretch resources. When designing trifolds for BETA competitions, they’ll create a budget and decide how to allocate supplies effectively. Even snacks will become part of our budgeting lessons as we calculate cost per student and the value of buying in bulk.

This project connects creativity and critical thinking with financial decision-making, giving students real-world practice in money management while preparing them for success at BETA competitions and beyond.

Every material requested serves two purposes:

Competition Prep – Students will use supplies to build, design, and present high-quality BETA projects.

Financial Literacy – Students will calculate project budgets, analyze costs, and make smart financial decisions about supply use. By combining science, art, and financial literacy, students will be wired for success in competition and in life.
