My students need a listening center where they can build language. They need to be able to hear CDs and mutiple copies of the same books so they can work in groups.

My Students

I want all of my students reading by the end of the year. My biggest challenge is that my class is an ESL class. Many of my students are from India and have just come to America. For many of the students school is the only consistent place they are exposed to English.

My school is in a city.

It is a mixed population. Most of the students speak more than one language. Many of the students have just come from India and Pakistan. My school is a successful school. We are involved in many programs that benefit the students. Currently, we have about 800+ students.

My Project

The students will improve with speaking, Reading and Writing if they are exposed to English. I am hoping that by using a listening center the students will develop vocabulary and comprehension skills. I hope to use these materials in small group. Small group allows me to meet the needs of the students more closely than in whole group.

This will help children adapt to English.

It will provide the exposure children need to develop language. It will apply to all kinds of learners. They will be able to see the stories, hear the stories, develop listening and speaking skills needed to be successful. The earlier that children are exposed to English the more prepared they will be for the future.
