This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every child deserves a voice — and sometimes, that voice is expressed through play.

In our classroom, we work with an amazing group of nonverbal and minimally verbal students.

Many of them use alternative methods of communication such as gestures, pictures, and speech devices. One of the most natural ways for young learners to develop language, social interaction, and emotional expression is through pretend play.

A high-quality wooden dollhouse, along with sturdy furniture and figures, would be a wonderful tool for our classroom. It offers open-ended, hands-on opportunities for students to:

Practice storytelling and sequencing "First the doll eats, then she sleeps."

Build social skills (taking turns, role-playing, greeting, sharing)

Use new vocabulary (bed, chair, house, mommy, brother, kitchen, etc.)

Strengthen fine motor skills while manipulating furniture and characters.

Plastic dollhouses can easily break or feel too "busy" and overwhelming for our sensory-sensitive learners. A wooden dollhouse provides a calm, sturdy, natural space that's ideal for focused and inclusive play.

With your help, we can create a richer learning environment where every child feels empowered to connect, imagine, and communicate — in their own way.

Thank you for considering a gift that will make a big difference in little lives!
